"Dean in 2004"

topic posted Tue, March 16, 2004 - 3:03 PM by  Justin
There was some discussion earlier about changing the name of this forum to something more general. I think the current name is much more appropriate because of the huge role Dean is going to have to play in this upcoming election for a Bush defeat.

When we support Kerry, we should do so through Dean's site. In the very near future, I think, Dean is going to start asking for contributions for the Kerry campaign. If Dean's organization of support brings in truckloads of money for Kerry, then guess what: Dean gains a great deal (more) of credibility within the Democratic party.

Dean, as we know, is out of the race. And he can afford to say things that Kerry wouldn't. I think Dean needs to go after Karl Rove, and resume his practice of questioning policies of the administration in ways other people won't. And if he continues to be provocative, you'd better believe his words will generate headlines.

If we do change it, I think we should change it to "Democracy for America", after Dean's new campaign. I actually think Dean is in a great position now to do some good for America. He can go after Karl Rove with full force without worrying about how he comes off. And his new group sounds great! After hearing his interview on NPR yesterday I was totally inspired.

I agree-- we should change the name to Democracy For America.

I think our moderator is as AWOL as Bush was from the Air National Guard.

Can we get a new moderator from Tribe? Then the moderator can change the tribe name.

To quote Walter, deity of tribe customer service:

"You'd need to send a message to help@tribe.net indicating the Tribe and proposed new moderator.

We'll do a little detective work to see if the original moderator is still to be found, and then we'll contact you (or whomever would like to be the new moderator)"

Christian, do you want to email tribe requesting to be the new moderator?

You've started the most threads here lately, so it makes sense...

This is the reply I got back...

            Christian --

Thanks for writing in. Although the moderator isn't active, their account is still active. Under our policies, we only assign a new moderator to a Tribe if the orignal moderator has been removed from our service (either by or, or of their own free will).

Please ask the members of your Tribe to contact Ruff and ask that another member take over the moderator's spot. After Ruff *and* the new moderator send me a confirmation message from the email accounts they used to register with Tribe.net, I'll make the change.

            Regards,

            Walter Thompson

I messaged Ruff ages ago, also, asking him to allow a change of moderators, but he did not reply.

There should be a mechanism for changing moderators when someone has abandoned tribe and ignores messages from the tribe they're supposed to be moderating.
