I just joined up so I can vote for Howard Dean on the 8th for DNC Chairman. Here's what I had to do locally. You have to pay your dues by December 31st if you want a vote. I'm sure there's a way to find out what's going on in you area...

Dear Friends of Party Reform:
We need your help to follow Governor Dean's prescription for political change.
DFA-Marin is sponsoring a group of candidates to run as delegates to the CA State Convention from the 6th Assembly District. We need you to join the Assembly District Committee by paying $48 in dues (two year membership) by December 31st (see below for details) and then we need you to show up at Pickleweed Community Center on January 8th, between 10am and 12pm to vote for the DFA candidates.
As most of you know, it is because of his ability to energize the grassroots and his advocacy of party reform, that Pat and I support Howard Dean a! s the next Chair of the DNC. We also fully support his contention that we must begin changing the party on a local and state level if we hope to achieve real reform on the national front. There are six men and six women delegates to be elected from the 6th AD. This is our chance to take action that will actually make a difference in the State Democratic Party. Many other active Marin Democrats are planning to run as well, so it is absolutely imperative that you join the Assembly District Committee and then come and vote for the DFA candidates on January 8th.
This past election has taught us all quite a bit, some of it good and some of it not so good. The good thing we learned is that when we come together and put our hearts, our energy and our commitment behind something we believe in, we have an incredible amount of power. The not so good thing we learned is that unless there is complete reform within the Democratic Party, all our grassroots efforts on its behalf will always come up short.
We realize that this is one more appeal for you to spend money at a very inconvenient time of the year. However, when you consider that the money spent buys us the chance to be active players and put DFA's ideas for change and growth into practice, it's not very expensive at all. Invest in the future of the Democratic Party. Please say you'll help by joining and voting.
Warmest regards,
Carole Mills and Pat Kunstenaar
